What the format actually does
Seeding
Players are seeded in the order you type them. Seed 1 meets the lowest seed, seed 2 meets the next lowest, so the top seeds only meet at the end.
Byes
If the field is not a power of two, the top seeds get first-round byes and are placed straight into round two. Nobody has to work out where the gaps go.
Printing
The printable sheet has blank score lines beside every name, so a paper bracket still works when the wifi does not.
