The phases in Phase 10
What are the phases in Phase 10?
Phase 10 has ten phases, and every player works through them in order, one hand at a time: 1, two sets of 3; 2, one set of 3 and one run of 4; 3, one set of 4 and one run of 4; 4, one run of 7; 5, one run of 8; 6, one run of 9; 7, two sets of 4; 8, seven cards of one color; 9, one set of 5 and one set of 2; 10, one set of 5 and one set of 3.
A set is two or more cards of the same number, in any colors. A run is four or more cards in numerical order, in any colors. A color phase is cards all of one color, any numbers. Wild cards can fill in for any card in a phase; Skip cards never can.
A phase has to be laid down all at once, in a single turn. A player who makes their phase moves to the next one for the following hand, and a player who does not tries the same phase again. The first to complete phase 10 wins, and if more than one player does it in the same hand, the lowest total wins.
Shorter games use only the even or only the odd phases, or stop after the first five or seven. In Score All you choose the phases when you set up the game, and the console shows every player the phase they are on and what it needs.
