How Farkle scoring works

Farkle is a dice game for two or more players in which you roll six dice, set aside scoring dice and decide whether to bank your points or risk them on another roll; the first to 10,000 usually wins.

A turn

Roll all six dice and set aside at least one scoring die or combination. Then either bank the points so far and pass the dice, or roll the remaining dice to add more. If all six dice have scored ("hot dice"), you may roll all six again.

Farkle

A roll with no scoring dice is a farkle: you lose every point from that turn and the dice pass to the next player.

Common scoring

Each 1 is worth 100 and each 5 is worth 50. Three of a kind is worth 100 times the number, except three 1s, worth 1,000. Many tables add four, five and six of a kind, three pairs and a straight from 1 to 6, at values that vary from house to house.

Getting on the board

Many tables require a minimum, most often 500, in a single turn before a player's first score counts. Some use 350 or 1,000, and some have no minimum.

Three farkles in a row

A common house rule takes 1,000 points off a player who farkles on three turns in a row; some tables take 500.

Winning

The usual target is 10,000. When a player reaches it, the others normally get a final turn to beat it, and the highest total wins.

What Score All does with these rules

One row a round

Every player takes a turn, then you enter what each of them banked, or 0 for a farkle. Scores come in 50s, so a typo like 375 is caught before it counts.

Getting on the board

Most tables need 500 in a single turn before a player's first score counts. Set the minimum, or turn it off; a first score below it banks nothing, and the standings show who is not on the board yet.

Three farkles in a row

Three farkles in a row cost 1,000 points in many games, 500 in others, and nothing in some. Choose your table's rule and the sheet counts each player's streak and takes the penalty off.

Who wins

When a player reaches 10,000 the round is finished, so everyone has had the same number of turns, and the highest total wins. Play to 5,000 for a shorter game, and decide whether a tie plays another round or is shared.
