How Polish horseshoes scoring works
Scored by what the defense fails to catch, Polish horseshoes (beersbee) is a backyard classic. Two poles, a bottle on each, a flying disc, and a point whenever something hits the ground that should not have.
The setup
Two poles stand some distance apart with a bottle balanced on top of each. Teams of two stand behind their own pole and throw a disc at the other one.
Defending
When the disc hits the pole or bottle, the defenders try to catch the disc and the bottle before either touches the ground.
Scoring
Rules vary, but a common scheme gives the throwing team 1 point when the disc hits the ground, 2 when the bottle does and 3 when both do. Simpler groups give one point for each thing dropped.
Playing to 21
Games usually go to 21 and must be won by two. Some groups play to exactly 21, or to 11 for a quicker game.
Bad throws
Many groups give the defense a point for a throw they cannot reach, or make the thrower re-throw. Agree on it before you start.
What Score All does with these rules
How a point is made
A team throws the disc at the other team's pole and bottle. If the defenders fail to catch what comes down, the throwing team scores. Score All counts a dropped disc 1, a dropped bottle 2 and both 3 by default.
One point per drop
Plenty of groups play simpler: one point for the disc or the bottle hitting the ground, two if both do. Pick that value set and the buttons change.
To 21, win by 2
Games go to 21 and must be won by two, with an optional cap so a long game still ends. Exact 21 with a bust rule is there too for groups that play it.
Teams
Two on two, each team at its own pole. Single games, best of three, and brackets for a tournament.
