How padel scoring works
Padel uses tennis scoring without modification. If you know how to score tennis, you know how to score padel, and the only common variation is what happens at deuce.
Points, games and sets
Points run 15, 30, 40 and game. Sets go to six games won by two, with a tiebreak at 6-6. A match is best of three sets. None of this differs from tennis.
The golden point
At deuce, a single point decides the game rather than playing advantage. The receiving pair chooses which side to receive on. This is the World Padel Tour standard, and it exists so matches finish on schedule.
Match tiebreak
Club and league play often replaces the deciding third set with a 10-point tiebreak, won by two. It cuts about forty minutes off a long match.
Serving
The serve is underarm and must bounce before it is struck, and it goes diagonally as in tennis. For scoring purposes it behaves exactly like a tennis serve: it alternates between pairs every game.
Americano and Mexicano
These are social formats, not scoring systems. An Americano rotates partners so everybody plays with everybody, scored on total points won. A Mexicano pairs players by current standing after each round. Run the first as a round robin and the second as king of the hill.
