How kickball scoring works
Kickball keeps baseball's scoring and adds a few rules of its own, mostly about fouls and how long an inning may run.
Runs, outs and innings
A run scores when a runner touches home. Three outs end a half-inning, four in some rec leagues. Adult leagues play 5 to 9 innings or to a time limit.
Fouls
A kick that lands foul counts against the kicker. In most adult leagues the third foul is an out.
Strikes and balls
Where the pitch is called, three strikes is an out and four balls is a walk. Many social leagues do not count them at all.
Run caps and mercy
Social leagues often cap an inning at 5 runs, with the last inning open, and stop a game early when one team is far ahead.
The walk-off
The home team kicks last. If it leads after the top of the last inning the bottom is not played, and if it takes the lead in the bottom the game ends.
What Score All does with these rules
Innings and outs
The away team kicks in the top half, home in the bottom. Tap +1 run as runners cross home and Out for each out; three outs (or four, if your league plays four) flip the half and the line score fills in.
Fouls and the count
Most leagues call a kicker out on the third foul. Tap Foul for each one and the out is recorded on the last; tap Next kicker when the kicker reaches base so the count starts fresh. Strikes and balls can be counted too: 3 strikes is an out, 4 balls a walk.
Run caps and mercy
Many social leagues cap an inning at 5 runs, with the last inning open, and end a game early on a big lead. Set both once and the app ends the half or the game for you.
How long a game is
Leagues play 5, 6, 7 or 9 innings, or to a time limit. A tie can go to extra innings or stand.
