How Five Crowns scoring works
Five Crowns is a rummy game with five suits played over eleven rounds, with one more card dealt each round and a different wild card every time; the lowest total after the last round wins.
The deck
Five Crowns has 116 cards: two decks of five suits (stars, hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds), each running 3 to king, plus six jokers. There are no aces, twos or ones.
Rounds and wild cards
Round one deals three cards and threes are wild; round two deals four cards and fours are wild; and so on up to thirteen cards with kings wild in the eleventh round. Jokers are always wild.
A turn
Draw from the deck or the discard pile, then discard. The goal is to arrange every card into books (three or more of a kind) and runs (three or more in sequence in one suit).
Going out
A player who can lay down every card, with one left to discard, goes out. Every other player then gets one more turn to lay down what they can.
Scoring
Cards left in hand count against you: number cards at face value, jacks 11, queens 12, kings 13, the round's wild cards 20 and jokers 50. A player who laid everything down scores 0.
Winning
After the eleventh round the lowest total wins. Some families break a tie with the last round's score, and many simply share the win.
What Score All does with these rules
Eleven rounds, a new wild card each time
Round one deals three cards and threes are wild, round two four cards with fours wild, all the way to thirteen cards with kings wild. The console names the cards and the wild for every round.
Points left in hand
When someone goes out, everyone else gets one more turn, then counts what they could not lay down: 3 to 10 at face value, jacks 11, queens 12, kings 13, wild cards 20 and jokers 50. Anyone who laid everything down scores 0.
Lowest total wins
After the last round the lowest total wins, and the standings show it on top all game. A tie can be shared, or go to the lowest score in the last round, or to the player who went out most often.
Shorter games
Play the rounds from kings down to threes, or stop after six rounds for a quick game. The sheet follows whatever you pick.
